South Africa and Poland have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the development of each other’s maritime economies.
South African deputy transport minister Sindisiwe Chikunga said the MoU would benefit both countries particularly with regards to long-term maritime sector issues through the joint pursuit of socio-economic development initiatives.
She said areas of immediate focus under the MoU were likely to include ship repair and maritime education and training.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony to welcome Poland’s centennial independence celebration vessel, Dar Młodzieży, to the Port of Cape Town.
