President seeks investment at Financial Times Africa Summit

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa called for further investment in South Africa when he addressed the 6th Financial Times Africa Summit in London today.

Ramaphosa, who is accompanied by Small Business Development Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni and Presidential Special Envoy on Investment, Mcebisi Jonas, was expected to talk to investors and business leaders on strategies to make the continent more relevant in a fiercely competitive global environment.

The overarching theme of this year’s summit is “Africa in Motion”, with a keen eye on how to expand and create opportunities for youth, women, scientists, artists and entrepreneurs in Africa.

The summit will explore business and investment opportunities, as well as try to dissect political and cultural issues currently hindering growth on the continent.

The two-day summit is hosted annually by the Financial Times newspaper and is used to explore business affairs and opportunities in African countries.
