US promotes ties with Namibia through new initiative

The United States this week reassured Namibia during a media briefing held by the US ambassador in Windhoek, Lisa Johnson, that it remained committed to the African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa).
Remarking on an investment initiative recently launched by the US administration, “Prosper Africa”, Johnson said America wanted to foster stronger trade and investment ties with African countries.
Sustained collaboration with the continent, she said, “will lead to greater shared prosperity and economic growth between both parties involved. So Prosper Africa is a whole new government initiative that will substantially increase two-way trade between the US and the countries of Africa”.
More specifically, Johnson said Prosper Africa would assist Namibia in creating the necessary resources to increase its benefits under Agoa.
