Preparations were under way at the port of Walvis Bay for the arrival of four ro-ro vessels over the next two weeks, the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) said on Monday.
“The ro-ros will be discharging over 350 vehicles destined for the Zambian, Zimbabwean, Botswana and local markets,” the spokesman added.
According to Namport, a small ramp has been built for the cargo to be wheeled on and off the vessel.
Each vessel will have to be processed separately as there is only one ramp in the main port.
To date 12 ro-ro vessels have called at Walvis Bay this year.
