SA to showcase industrial and O&G sectors in Texas

Twenty South African firms –  representing the steel and fabrication; engineering and services; electro technical and services; and oil and gas sectors – are set to attend the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas next week from Monday to Thursday.

The companies are supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) through its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA) Scheme which focuses on facilitating market access for SA companies as well as on attracting new foreign direct investment into the country.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, said that the South African National Pavilion at the conference was “an ideal platform” for the South African companies to meet international oil and gas companies, equipment suppliers and engineering services providers.

“The United States is one of South Africa’s key trading partners in the world today, and the bilateral trade relationship has maintained a consistent pattern of expansion since 1994. It currently represents an export destination for 12-15% of all South Africa’s exports,” he said.
