Western Cape emerging exporters are exploring business opportunities in Brazil in an effort to expand business operations.

Lantern Logistics and Bayside Marine are among 21 companies from the province showcasing their products and services at the Latin American Defence and Security Exhibition (LAAD) in Rio de Janeiro.

While Lantern Logistics manufactures radio links that allow drones to be operated from at least 100-200 kilometres away, Bayside Marine conducts steel repairs, fabrication, hull repairs, as well as structural and general repairs.

Its director, Timothy Jacobs, singled out Brazil’s coastline as the ideal environment for the deployment of his range of boats.

South Africa’s consul general in Brazil, Malose Mogale, said: “Brazil remains a strategic partner for us in this region and the LAAD platform offers us potential opportunities not only in this country, but within The Mercado Comun del Sur, a southern common market of which Brazil is a member.
