Gov makes headway in commercialising emerging farmers

Significant headway has been made with the commercialisation of emerging farmers, according to Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister, Senzeni Zokwana.
Government had set a target of upskilling 450 farmers across the country through its Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (Casp), said Zokwana.
“Addressing the current disparities in farming remains a focus as 70% of farms are still white owned.”
This is according to the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies which recently revealed that there were 5000 black farmers in South Africa compared to 39 000 white peers.
