Morwe to submit new Transnet operating strategy by early next year

Acting group CEO for Transnet, Tau Morwe, is expected to submit a proposal on a new operating model and corporate structure to the Transnet Board of Directors by the end of February next year at the latest.
Chairman of the board, Dr Popo Molefe, said this was one of three strategic moves decided on during a board meeting held to “arrest the decline and craft a new growth trajectory” over the weekend.
Molefe said the corporate design of a new operating model would be “underpinned by financial sustainability, customer centricity and operational excellence”.
Morwe’s revised operating model and recommendations for a new corporate structure and new group executive would include a supporting implementation strategy which the board would review.
In the interim, the current group leadership team (GLT) has been replaced by an interim group executive team until such time as the new executive committee is established in terms of the new operating model and corporate structure.
“The board is confident that the new strategy will assist in positioning Transnet in a trajectory that will contribute to a growing economy. This will stimulate economic growth and achieve economic efficiency in the movement of goods across the country,” said Molefe in a statement issued yesterday (Monday).
