The Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) has started periodic maintenance of Main Road 174 (MR174) between Malmesbury and Muishondrivier with the R47 million project expected to be completed by July 2019.
The MR174 forms part of the R45 that connects Saldanha with Villiersdorp via Vredenburg, Malmesbury and Paarl.
According to a statement on the DTPW website, work will include the repair of cracks, patches and potholes; repair and realignment of guardrails; and shoulder rehabilitation. Surfacing will also take place at identified intersections, culverts will be cleaned out, and poor road signage will be replaced.
