Dozens of containers – some reportedly containing dangerous goods – have been lost following the collision of two vessels in the Yangtze River on Monday.

According to global media reports, a container ship collided with a bulk cargo vessel in the Taicang area, near the Shanghai Channel fairway.

Traffic was suspended and the Taicang port blocked because of the floating containers. A salvage operation to recover the containers is under way. No-one was injured in the collision.
