Beira coal shipment record

Lotana Nhanga performs a check on a vessel at TCC8 in Beira.

Last month saw records broken at the Port of Beira when the CMB Rubens became the first vessel to exceed 40 000mt on a single coal shipment out of Beira’s TCC8 coal terminal.

The vessel, which completed loading in just 28 hours, with a total of 40 640mt loaded on a draught of 10mt, was destined for India, according to agents LBH Southern Africa.

Recent dredging saw the deepening of the draught at Beira coal berth, quay no 8, from 9.50 m to 10.00 m in May this year.
