South African natural and organic products will go on show this week as a group of South African companies head for Sweden to showcase their goods and services at the Natural Products Scandinavia Show in Malmo.
The trade show – which ends on 16 November – will be preceded by a business seminar, business-to-business meetings and site visits.
“We have particularly selected a group of exporters of natural and organically certified ingredients, processed foods, drinks and cosmetic products in alignment with the department’s market and product diversification strategy,” said Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies.
The Swedish natural products show will be combined with the Nordic Organic Food Fair which annually attracts key trade buyers from leading health stores, supermarket chains, wholesalers, distributors and the public sector.
According to Davies, the trade mission is expected to contribute to addressing the trade imbalance between the two countries which has always been heavily skewed in favour of Sweden.
South African exports to Sweden amounted to over R2.4 billion while imports totalled over R12 billion in 2017.
