Cape export finalists named

Eleven companies will be competing for this year’s title of Cape exporter of the year.

The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry this week announced the finalists in its annual competition now in its 28th year.

According to Janine Myburgh, president of the Chamber, entries were of a high standard.

The finalists, in alphabetical order, are All Women Recycling, a Muizenberg company which makes and sells a variety of gifts and gadgets made from plastic waste; Ayama SA, which produces and exports wine; Caffenu which makes cleaning capsules for coffee machines; Cape Cookies which manufactures confectionery; ELE Trading which markets and exports fresh produce; Elim Spa Products; Folio Online, a translation service for Africa and the world; Kallos Exporters, which procures and distributes fruit and vegetables; winery Overhex Wines; Research Unit which manufactures leather handbags and Tradewinds Parasols which makes patio umbrellas and shades.

Myburgh said the competition played a role in boosting the morale of exporters.

The winners will be announced on October 18 at a gala dinner in Cape Town.
