Anglo renews shipping contracts

Anglo American has renewed its ocean freight contracts with Vuka Marine, a joint venture between Via Maritime Holdings of South Africa and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha of Japan.

Under these freight contracts, Anglo American transports bulk iron ore and coal products to global customers.

CEO of marketing for Anglo American, Peter Whitcutt, said: “Over the past two and half years, this partnership has allowed us to create additional value through our commercial shipping activity. It currently accounts for approximately $30 million in annual freight spend.”

Vuka Marine operates two cape size bulkers: the Cape Enterprise and the Cape Orchid and has committed to deploy and train local cadets on these vessels.
