SA to invest R56bn in renewable energy sector

The South African government has committed to an investment of R56bn in the renewable energy sector over the next three years.

Energy Minister Jeff Radebe on Thursday announced the finalisation of power-purchase agreements for 27 renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) projects.

He said that this was evidence of government’s commitment to the renewable energy programme and to a solid partnership with the private sector. The signing would also bring policy and regulatory certainty for investors, he added.
