State capture inquiry green-lighted after publication of regulations

Deputy chief justice, Raymond Zondo.

The regulations for the judicial commission of inquiry into state capture were published last Friday, giving deputy chief justice, Raymond Zondo, the green light to proceed with the probe as chair of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture.

The regulations provide that no-one appearing before the commission may refuse to answer any question on any grounds. Zondo now also has the right to appoint the secretary of the commission and other persons and officers as required.

National Treasury has said it will ensure that the Commission has adequate funds to complete its mandate.
