The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) and trade and investment agency for the Western Cape, Wesgro, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote and strengthen trade and investment between the UK and the Western Cape.

According to Wesgro, the MoU will ensure ongoing collaboration to help maintain existing investments while facilitating the development of new trade and investment opportunities.

“By signing this MoU we have taken a concrete step to sharing the insights, expertise and intelligence that will benefit both the Western Cape and the UK as we seek to deepen and strengthen our trade ties,” said UK trade director for southern Africa, Elena Williams.

She added that the partnership between Wesgro and the DIT would develop support services for UK and South African companies and promote business environment improvements. This would be achieved by working alongside stakeholders from the private and public sector – as well as on a national and local level.
