Bahrain-headquartered ship’s agency Kanoo Shipping is on an expansion trail, having recently purchased the operations and business of Wallem South Africa which has been rebranded Kanoo Africa.
The company will maintain its existing offices and staff in Cape Town and Durban and plans to expand its southern Africa network through acquisitions over the coming months.
Headed up by current managing director Nils Warner, Wallem South Africa has since its launch four years ago carved a niche in the ship’s agency sector catering for tramp operators. Wallem Cape Town focuses strongly on logistics to the Antarctic during the period from October to March.
Ship to ship oil transfers are another area of specialisation.
Kanoo Shipping currently has 43 operating offices in 18 countries from Egypt to Sri Lanka. “Through a major shareholding in S5 we are able to offer customers global agency services,” said Warner.
And while Warner will continue in his role as managing director of Kanoo Africa for two years, Jonathan Millar has taken over as general manager for South Africa.
